Does anyone own one of these filters? 1400EF from All Pond Solutions

I will be getting a bigger tank later this year and have been on aqadvisor using there calculator. The tank I will be getting is a 72"x24"x24" from ND Aquatics and on Aqadvisor it says this filter will cope ok with that size of tank and what stocking plan I have in mind.

What I want to know is........

  1. Has anyone got one?
  2. How are you finding it?
  3. What size tank are you running it on?
  4. Is it noisy?
  5. If you own one of the above filters, would you recommend me to get one or get a ehiem or fluval fx5 instead?

I use the 1000EF on my 200l its almost silent and it does a great job of keeping the water crystal clear! I use it on my discus tank

i have 2 of then, think they are great, come fully packed with media aswell

I have one running on my 200L and I really like it as well. Much better than my fluval U4 and makes water changes extremely easy. If I get another tank I will buy again.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like i will be getting one of these soon, but please keep your thoughts coming on these.

Thanks :good:

Mom has the same as me, the largest with the uv, i have two of those now lol (6x2x2 in my living room tomorrow woohoo, so the two will come in to their own now)

So 3 of them between us, run quiet, run reliable thus far, and i might add the support if needed is very good from allpondsolutions so i've been told

Though i would add more ceramic/bio ball media the amount included if deffo enough to start right off the bat

The impeller is a doddle to remove for cleaning, as is in our case the uv fitting (not that we use them but nice to have for a few extra quid)

The trays fit nicely too

If you were to see the tetratec next to one of these you will see why i call them a clone ;)

So far i'd give 5/5 or 10/10 cannot fault the price or performance thus far

The tank you are getting is pretty standard size so keep an eye out on AC as they come up quite a bit. I have a ND aquatics tank ; 4x2x2 i had to cut away at the lid to fit the intake and outtake into the tank as there is braces going around all the side apart from the very cornors. Only filter that fits is the fx5 , i tried a couple of other ones for an addtional filter but gave up when the eheim's also dont fit and cut away at the lid . Now fits.

Personally though I'd go with a sump all of the way, better than filter's, more capacity than filters and keeps all of the equipment out of the tank. Ive made my own sump and have a 5500lph pump ready for it when it's hooked up, you try finding many filters that do this and have the capacity of a sump.

ND Aquatics do some tanks with sumps so i'd see if they can give you the tank and cabitnet made for the sump so that it has space underneath to make your own sump. Also they will be able to drill the holes in the tank for you. Do the pipework yourself though as they screwed up T1Karmann's when they did it.

If you do decide to go with filters though you'll need more than one ideally. I run a eheim 2078e and fluval/hagen fx5 on my 4x2x2 and it still doesnt seem enough. You'd be looking at at least 2 fx5's and maybe an addtional internal or something to keep the filtering up to top notch.
Let's remember filter's are probs one of the most important parts of the tank so make sure you get it right first time:)
