Hi,

I have 4 zebra danio's, 4 harlequin rasboras, 2 dwarf gouramis and 2 cory cats, all are male (no im not sexist, just that the males eems to be more colourful  ) is my all male community a bad thing, would they benefit from some hot totty to chase in the tank? :shifty: I dont really want eggs tho.

no shouldn't have any problems from being all male, perhaps the DG's might squabble a bit but that depends on the individual temprepements of the fish and to an extent how large the tank is.

the cories really need to be in a group of 6+ if at all possible, if you can let us know what size the tank is we'll let you know if you have room to add any more :good:

I would be wary of the gouramis as males can be territorial, other than that it should be fine though.

Thanks for that. I have a 50 litre tank, i dont want to add anymore fish for the moment i think i am pretty much at my maximum (dont want to overfill) unless you think i could get away with a few more corys? Will different types of corys shoal together or just the exact same breed?

I wouldn't have an all male tank if I were you!

The cleaning will never get done!

you're close to the limit but it's not attrociously stocked, i would put in 2 more cories and leave it at that.

the harlequins could turn out to be female if they are younger it's quite hard to tell until they get the fuller rounded belly
i would be very careful with the 2 male dwarf gouramis as these in time will want their own territories and will harrass each other if they see each other
my tip for this would be to make sure you have plenty of plants so they dont see each other clearly this way when they make their own territorys they will be smaller areas (seperated by the plants) and they will feel secure in the fact that there isn't another male encrouching on their space all the time .
Add some floating plants for the gouramis aswell as they love playing in them
