I saw this on a website whilst looking for a filter. It is cheaper to buy one of these than it is to buy all three things seperately, but i dont want to waste money on something useless. Has anyone used them before?

http://www.aquatics-online.co.uk/listsecti...&retp=8&rets=15 thats where i found it, its called a Hydor Thermo Filter.

I was thinking of getting an 12 gallon tank i have seen, then splitting it in half to keep two bettas in. Would it be ok for bettas? Or better for Guppies or something?

I haven't used one so I don't know what they're like. Not a brand name I'm familiar with. In theory the idea seems good.
As for the tank, yes, should be fine for bettas so long as they can't see each other and spend all day trying to kill each other through the partition.
Hugs,
P.

Heater thingy looks pleasing and the idea is good, only prob may be that if one part fails then youv'e lost the lot, in the long run it might not pay.
having said that, if you do get one let us know what its like.

I've just bought one but I haven't set the tank up yet. Will let you know what its like when I do.
Hydor used to make filters for Interpet but have now started making them under their own name.

I was looking at one of those myself, about the same price as a filter and heater anyway. Let us know what its like.

Bumping this with an update.
I started using this filter in July and I don't know whether I am just unlucky but it stopped working this week. The heater always seemed a bit dodgy, sort of flickering on and off and when I took the filter bit off during the week to rinse the sponges the filter refused to work again.
It is quite an expensive item and as was said above as it is an all-in-one you lose the heater and the filter in one go. I have now replaced it with a fluval 2 plus and a separate heater. Can't really recommend it.

I thought it wouldn' do so well....some things are just ment to be seperate...like cars and air plaines, dogs and cats, fish and aligators!
