When all is going well with your tank(s) and your friends are doing well and are happy, isn't that just lovely. To know your hard work and energy has been rewarded. Fishkeeping shouldn't just be about emergencies or deaths or water quality. Fishkeeping should be a pleasure and an enjoyment to behold. It is a wonderful feeling , when someone comes into the room and says to you ,oh the're lovely or that's a lovely tank. You know then all your efforts have been worthwhile. It like the paddling swan scenario. On the surface of the water you see a graceful swan gliding across the water effortlessly, but underneath the legs are paddling like hell. It's the same with fishkeeping. I'm sure you are all familar with that feeling. May you long enjoy fishkeeping.

Fis keeping is great your right Dragon,

When the tanks going well you hate to touch it, i have a four foot reef tank and its only got two clownes in it, i have just started to clear up an algae problem, and i could add more fish but i aint gonna just yet cos i dont want it to go all slimy again. lol

I don't know much about reef tanks Whacky, but they do look spectacular when the're fully occupied with brightly coloured fish and anemones. It must be hard to keep though. When I was at the deep in Hull, I learned a lot about marine biology and their fishes were gi-normous. They also had a few small tanks with small rays and baby sharks etc. It looked really cool!

Why?
If all's going fine why mess about with it. Just sit back and enjoy. I agree that you will need to maintain it but that is about it. Work in progress sounds a little too forceful.
