All Fish Died - Why

Hey
I came home today to have a fit! One of my lights wasnt working so i tried to fix that, and have. And i saw a moult of the cleaner shrimp, and also found the shrimp dead. At first i thought the fish attacked it whilst it was weak, from moulting.
Obviously, i got the test kit out.
Ammonia-0,
nitrate- 10,
pH-7.4...WHAT!!!!!?????
But, i knew why this dropped so low. I usually have part of the internal filter above the water level, to add bubbles to the tank, increasing surface agitation and the rise of PH. But, this week i didnt do this, as i heard that the bubbles may damage the corals flesh..but i havent had anything like that yet since ive added coral. So i was like crap, thats why it died, and im sooo lucky i didnt loose the fish or the corals, or my new anemone.
Moral of the story, dont change anything that your having success with because someone tells you to!

If you've ever snorkeled over a reef, you'll see that there are plenty of bubbles. No worries about bubbles in the water but they can be unsightly.

dont change anything that your having success with because someone tells you to
And also, if it's not broke, don't fix it... lucky for the both of us we didn't lose more livestock to mistakes like this! I find that's actually been my biggest obstacle to overcome (and I have yet to)...

Taking all the above into account, my diagnosis is accute lack of oxegyn must have caused the problem, as mentioned above. Although their was water movemnet at a low level in the tank the surface would have been mostly stagennt. Lesson leaned, always have water moverment at surface. On my large tank I have this, but never thought about it for my smaller tank. Another question regards oygen is that og ozone. I have it in my large tank I put it in via the V2 skimmer at a rate of 300ml/ph over a 4 hour period then off for 4 hours and so on..(the tank is 1000ltrs), should and IF i had ozone runnin in my smaller tank would this have helped the situation (of course at lower levels say 90ml/ph every 4 hrs etc)??

Thanks everyone for the posts!

Just as another option, I've heard of cucumbers (and similar inverts) dying and nuking a tank like that.

Ozone addition will not assist in oxygenating the water. As a matter of fact in a system with poor gas exchange, Ozone can become even more lethal than lack of oxygen... Gotta have good exchange if you want to use Ozone
