Hi everyone. I founf two more of my neons stuck to the filter, so I had to put them down, now I am left with only my 2 black neons and my Bruno Aries tetra. I moved them out of the 10gal that they called home and into my hospital tank, mroe to save them from whatever was killing off my neons, than to hospitalize them. The question I have for everyone is that would it be best if I just kept them in the 1gallon tank for now, and re-started the cycle on my 10gal after cleaning everything really really well to kill off whatever fungus/bacteria/etc that killed the others, or just clean out the 10gal without re-cycling it? Hope it makes sense. My SO and I are really sad about the loss of 6 fish in the last 4 days. :byebye:
oh,. the black neons and bruno aries have a tiny bit of ich (3 dots on bruno, 1 on a black neon), but that all, they are otehrwise healthy and happy.

thank you so much!

all i know is that if there is any thing wrong with ur tank (lvls of bacteria) or ur tank is slightly polluted, the neons will be the first to go, i lost 2 a few days ago becuase my nitrates were too high :-(
i dont know how to help u with the others probs though, sry :(

well, three got caught in the filter suction. they had ich, which I was treating them for, and their fin rot came back, but I am guessing it was because their immune systems were down from the ich. The water levels were good right before yesterday when they all started dying on me. We managed to save the 2 black neons, and the bruno aries, and they seem stressed a bit, and have a little ich, but they are otherwise well.

So back to the question: Do I do a fishless cycle, which is what I was thinking of doing while my three left are in the 1gal hospital tank, or should I just try to save whatever good bacteria is in the 10gal?

Are you treating the fish you have left for the Ick?
How long was the orginal tank established for?
I have never done a fishless cycle before so I wouldn't know where to lead you to.
Are your levels ok now? I would still do a water change.
I dunno Hun!

Yep, I am treating the fish in the hospital tank (the 1 gal) and I am pretty sure I am going to boil the crap out of everything before I start again with a fishless cycle as I try to help the poor little survivors to become totally healthy again.
my origional tank was only up about a month before it broke out, and all the testing I did showed my water was great, I had gotten a new neon a couple weeks back, but he was quarentined for a couple weeks, and showed no signs of anything bad, but I guess he must have had something, cause all my neons went.

:rip:

btw: earthgirl. where do you go for your fish? What would you recommend? I am right near Edmonton as well. :)
