I bought a small shoal of Black Neons (4) over last weekend and I only have one left

One was dead at the bottom of the tank and 2 other were still near the surface of the tank. I isolated them in a breeding trap as they did not look well but both died hours later. When I introduced to the tank on Sunday they were active, they were very small though - about 1.5cm in length.
  • No visable illness in the tank
  • Ammonia levels were 0
  • Nitrite level also 0
  • PH - neutral (about 7)
  • All other fish are happy
The remaining one is active but the black band looks faded. I also have an existing Black Neon in the tank, it looks happy but again, the black band on the body is not as dark as it usually is.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I've found Black Neons can be as delicate as their more famous Neon cousins when it comes to shock or adjustments to environment. Where did you get them from and how long did they have them in their aquariums?

The local Fish store has a good rep I believe - one iof the largest in Essex.
When I introduced them to the tank, floated bag for a while, then let aquarium mix with water in bag befor eventually letting them lose.

The last one has gone missing, presumed dead  Back to square one with the one long standing Black Neon. Think I will keep i that way.

How long did you acclimatise them to the tank for?
