I saw a thing which is like a hoover, you attach it to an air pump and it sort of syphons the water up and through a net. the water goes through the net and back into the tank...

was just wondering if it was worth buying, cause its £5.50. already spent £45 over the last 2 days.

In a word, no :good: IME, on the rare occasion that they do pic up the dirt, it does not get placed into the bag for removal. To lift the dirt you need a good output from the driving air pump, that in turn creates too much turbulance in the tube for the dirt to lift all the way to the collection bag

Stick to the conventional Gravel Vac. I cannot think of a situation where you wouldn't want to remove water with the waste, so you may as well kill two birds with one stone so to speak :good:

All the best

I actually have that one and i rate it very highly

it picks up poo very well indeed it also works well on sand although it tends to pic up quiet a bit

its tellescopic

bag is easy to clean and for a poo picker upper bettween propper gravel vacs its supper used to use it to remove the piles of plec poo inthe corner, that came in days, very effectivly.

also good for tight corners the gravel vac can not reach.

I love it although it wont replace a gravel vac if you have gravel it just helps maintain that just cleaned look inbettween cleanings as you don't have to wory about having to fill the tank back up after cleaning up a particularly long poo thats unsightly.

I had a battery powered one which I used all the time as I was keeping an adult oscar and an adult green terror adult plec and a large pangasius so there was always alot of mess to clean up and it was the best thing I ever bought but I also had and used a old gravel cleaner and I used that when I was doing water changes :good:

i got battery powered one , really good , when using it in my 50 litre tank i used it for water changes to saved me sucking on pipes to get suction going, for cleaning they pretty good , bag got pretty dirty pretty fast so stuck it in some boiling water for a bit to remove the waste , now working fine .

I had one of those battery type. Seemed like a load of work for little gain. Yes I did end up with muck in the bag after 10 minutes but if you actually looked at the amount I could get that in 30 seconds of syphon vaccing!

Hasn't been out of the drawer since

I have something similar to that. It works well, but i never use it because if I am already getting my hands wet, I'm just going to do the whole water change so I wont have to do it later. Its kind of like wiping down your car with a towel, but not washing it.

i keep mine dry when using it thats the piont just turn the airpump up high and you don't submerse the handle so your hand is dry

Jazzz could you please tell me how long it extends.. the packaging doesn't give much away.

I saw the battery powered ones but they are about £16.. so i would rather have this one!

I used to good effect in my fluval 125L as if you just let the handle into the water you can get it down to a depth of17" still working effectivly
