I was wondering if you can grow algae like you know cualtivate it. I know this is a silly quesrtion but i need to know if i can. If so can someone please explan how to grow it eg. wether it needs air
or fish or anything filters or air pump
The best thing for algea is warm, still water and an abundance of phosphurace. This can come from fertiliser (not too sure how you get this into the tank.... )
but is also a by-product of waste - be it fish, rotting food or rotting plants.
Either way, I think if you leave tank water in sunlight and don't change it you'll get some.
Wouldn't reccomend you leave your fish in there at the same time though!
Algae needs the same things as aquatic plants - nitrates, light. The easiest way to cultivate algae is to take an old jamjar, fill it with water and keep it on a windowsill where it will get plenty of sunlight. Put some old leaves into it to rot and watch the algae grow........
