Hi,

I have had my tank running for more than a year now and everything is going well. But I do have a question regarding cleaning the tank, on the sides of the tank I do have a build up of green stuff (alge I am presuming), I was wondering what the best way to get this off is? I do have scrapers and a mag float but they don't seem to do much, it is only a light covering but it does seem to be really hard to get off.

any comments/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks :)

i have an algae scraper where you put a stanley blade in it and it gets rid of all my algae i got it from maidenhead aquatics, if theres one near you try looking there for one.

Razor blade scrapers do a good job, just be careful not to scratch glass. Also remember that for a lot of fish, algae is a good thing. Contrary to what we humans want to see in our tanks, to a fish's eye a little algae looks really nice.

if it bothers you that much get a plec

 Not really a good idea unless dream's tank is big enough to support a fish that can get to be 18"+ and generates massive amounts of poo-strings. And if the mag-floats won't take care of this algae, it's doubtful that a plec would be interested either.

I love plecs, but they really aren't for everybody. :)
