These are quite big. Do I break one up for my 8 corys or do I put one or two in whole and let them at it?

Why are you feeding cory's algae wafers? Thats plec food. Surely you mean catfish pellets/wafers, pinch of the mini's will do them fine.

I have a Chinese algae eater, I feed him (her) algae wafers. I have to feed catfish pellets first to distract the clown loaches and the cory's then while they're busy drop the algae wafer in. Clown loaches will eat anything!!

my panda and pepper corys go crazy over the Hikari Algae (12-15mm?) wafers...love them just as much as the shrimp wafer/pellets.

i break a single one up into about 6 pieces and spread them all over the tank (shrimp pellets put in at same time), in an attempt to let the BN catfish enjoy a piece or two alone. However the BN ends up patrolling the whole tank and gets shirty if the cories nibble on any algae wafer piece

i bought some smaller algae wafers (6mm?) the other day, hoping they would be easier for the cories to consume before the BN gets stroppy...but those wafers end up getting real messy. Not the same color also...prob lower quality.

Oh dear . Cynic, I thought I was supposed to feed them algae wafers! I also feed them the Hikari sinking pellets so that's ok. Chokko, mine love them too. Didn't realise it was plec grub.

i was TOLD to feed my corys algae wafers? is that why they are dying?

Do you feed them algae wafers often HayzH? I've only been feeding them this 3 times a week for a few weeks. I thought I read it somewhere here too, that's why I got them.
Hope you don't lose anymore Corys!

Algae wafers are enjoyed by corys, but they aren't very easy for them to eat compared (algae wafers are very compacted to suit plecs "rasping" feeding strategy) to other food so if theres other fish around that are picking at the wafers too, they may no get enough food.

Smash them up into crumbs and they should be OK, though other catfish pellets will probably be easier for them to digest.

I use them as treats as its nice to watch all the corys gather round one wafer, and it keeps them busy, even if they aren't getting big mouthfuls of it.

I did break them up but now I'll limit to maybe one a week and I'll put it in whole to see them go at it.

small grain food like tetra prima are ideal for corys as they can suck them in straight away instead of fight other fish for them. highly recommend a pot next time you are in your lfs.
