algae problems

I decided a week and a half ago to buy 2 bristlenose catfish and put some filter wool instead of carbon in my external filter as brown algae was taking over my tank.......for a week - nothing, the algae continued to get worse. So imagine my surprise when I got home from work last night and found 80% of the algae gone and the water clear as crystal!!! (And the plecos sitting in serious piles of poo!)

Just thought I'd share that and say thanks to those who gave those two pieces of advice.

do plecos really do a whole tank like that so quickly?

i got a 4 inch pleco and he cleaned my 180l tank in less than a day

they are algae soldiers hahahaha

Just remember to supplement them with algae wafers because after they get your tank clean, they may starve to death if you don't.
