Algae Problems

i havent got my unit yet

ive been buying the water from my lfs until it gets delivered

how many gallons are we talking about? i guess this is a new tank? with new rock? new or used bulb?
if everything (water, stats, blubs, sunlight) is in check then you have two options, goto war with it urself... or let nature goto war with it..

20 gallons, fuly matured rock, was in a persons tank for years before i bought it, new bulb

has your temperature been fluctuating at all? I understand that in tank of your size it is very difficult to keep the temp stable. That may be an issue as well.

If you are getting store bought RO water I would check the parameters there too. Too many time an LFS may have left their RO unit to go too long without change. Because phosphate levels should be very low with RO water. But again, give it a test and see what it gives you.

no my temps been stable from the start

i shouldnt be buying any more ro from my lfs because (fingers crossed) my ro unit should arrive today

When it does, do a 100% waterchange. Sounds like your LFS' membrane might be not the best ;)

100%

thats a bit drastic isnt it!?

thatll take me ages to do i havent got enough containers to hold 20 gallons!

(it came today but it might take a while to get plumbed in )

what about all my livestock!?

looks like im not gettin anythin on saturday

You can do a near 100% waterchange with all your livestock in the tank. I do it all the time :) Make sure if you have LPS to gently poke them till they close so they don't fall out of their skeletons when the water drains.

Yes, I even do it with fish. They freak out a bit but are just fine in the end.

LPS = Large Polyped Stony corals. Hard corals with fleshy bodies. Common examples would be brain corals, euphillia, acanthastrea, elegance, etc.

Thats what I thought. should make a 100% change easy then :)
