Algae eater is needed

Hmm... that is really odd - in order to bring down the pH from 7.8 to 6 in a 55g tank, you need to have alot of acidic chmicals leeching to get there...

How often do you do water change, and how much?

um.......not in the last 3 months :X Im gonna do it tomorrow. I just never have time to do it. With school and all. But thats probaly why its so low, hopefully i get this job at a LFS, its gunna help a lot. But yeah i should have time to do it tomorrow. -_- and clean the gravel and the plants and the filters. :S

There you go, that has to be the reason.... You should really try 20% weekly...

No i wouldn't recommend it.

Test ya water for ammonia and nitrite first before you do a water change, only do a gradual change otherwise you will end up with New Tank Syndrome seen as you have left it for so long.

Water changes should be done fortnightly or weekly depending on messyness of fish species especially if large fish.

HTH

Yes I agree. You should get your tank back on track first so that the water parameters resemble that of your tap water before adding any more fishes.

You've not lost any fishes so far in that tank?

I lost one since then but today i did a 20% water change i took all the plants out and cleaned them and decor. I also did a little clean of the gravel. So yeah the water is a little cloudy but i might put some stuff in there to clear it up. And the fish seem to be doin better.

Lets keep that up for few more weeks and see if the water parameters come back to where it should be... ;)

ok I just did some testing and heres what i got
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Temp- 78' F
PH- 6.6 :)

Ok I'm goin to keep this up because i really want to get some pearl gouramis, cuz there also. Yeah i really hate myself for gettin side track cuz i ve bin at camp for a month so i really totaly forgot all about that styuff.

Yeah every weakend im gunna try and do water changes. I guess by a month Everything should be back to normal.

Hopefully, that pH is going to rise very slowly otherwise your fishes are going to be going through stress as well...
