Ok so my 55 gallon but im not sure what to get. I had already got a pleco and a whip tailed pleco and they have long since pasted away for unknown reasons. All i can think of is ph. My 55 has alot of algae and im tired of scrapin it off the sides of the tank. So i was wondering what is good for eatin algae and if it will get alone with my fish in my 55? If you can get pics that would be kool to thanx

its at 6 idont know why the rest of my tanks are at 7.8. idk i was told not to touch the ph so i stop. I try but it either stays or goes to 7 then back to its orignal.

Are you saying your 55g is at pH of 6, while your other tanks and your tap water is at 7.8? Do you have a driftwood in your 55g tank??? (I know you asked Pleco question first, but you should look into this issue first!)

No i dont know what is wrong and trying to raise the ph does nothing idk my fish seem to be doin find though. Is it safe to raise the ph.

Nah i dont have any drift wood. I have 50 pounds of river rocks, some slate, a bunch of fake plants and two halfs of a big pirate ship.

You shouldn't try to change your water chemistry. Check your tap water and see what kind of parameters does it show (pH, KH and GH).

Most of the species you own should be fine in slightly acidic water (in fact, that is closer to their native environment, with the possible exception of the swordtails).

ok kool. Yeah my tap water is7.8 but yeah. i really want to keep it at neutral though but i dont want to mess wit it. I think im gunna do a huge water change cuz i havnt done that in a while :X

7.8 is fine for majority of species out there at your LFS. You really need to find out what is causing that pH drop in your 55g. What objects do you have in that tank?

I have 50 pounds of river rocks, some slate, a bunch of fake plants and two halfs of a big pirate ship. I guess im gunna try for a 20% water change tomorrow.

There's nothing in there that would cause that kind of pH drop... There must be something else in that tank to cause this. Are you adding any chemicals into the tank?

Your 30 gallon tank is amazing. Its really awesome.
Thanks...

It is interesting to see people's observations and their opinions. I get roughly 50/50 compliments between my 30g and 25g... ;)

Your welcome. :p
Yeah i never add chemicals to my tank. If a fish gets sick i put it in a hospital tank and treat it there. Could it be rottin fish crud and stuff.

Your 25 is also really kool i like the drift wood, it really gives it a natural look. I wish my mom didnt loose the digital camera cuz i so want to post my tanks up here and see what people whould say about them.
