Hi.
Done a "fishless cycle" on my tank, and added 3 Ryukins,3 Black moors and 2 Orandas (all small fish).
Have been keeping a check on levels, and they are all pretty much perfect.
Problem is,im now noticing a build up of algae on all of the glass.
Is there a suitable "sucker" or something i could add to combat this?
Thanks
(Tank is a "Rio Juwel" bow fronted type...approx 42 gallons)
Live plants, fine shingle on the bottom, with a few ornaments

I have managed to keep a plec in cold water without any problems in the past

Chinese algae eaters(sucking loaches) can be kept in cold water tanks. They tend to stop eating algae when they get bigger though. They also become more aggressive with age......(mine isn't aggressive at all........but apparently they can be!!) HTH.

Hillstream Loachs (also falsely labeled as butterfly plecos) are a coldwater river dweller that also feed on algae. you can keep large numbers of them as they stay fairly small and will not become aggressive like a CAE can. :)

Yeah, I've heard that hillstream loaches are good (don't get aggressive like chinese algae eaters) The Hillstream loaches need very good airation  So maybe a few arestones would be a good idea if you want to go with them :)

I'm keeping a betta in a 2.5 gallon with some plants and I'm beginning to have the same problem. I'm thinking of using the pleco's as suggested, but I was wondering if my betta would go after it.

A 2.5 gallon is much too small for any type of pleco, and frankly too small for any type of algae eater at all. Try scrubbing the glass with an aquarium approved algae scrape, in a tank that small you should be able to keep it clear without any problems.

I'll just add to that stament, they also need fast flowing water. A powerhead is a must for HSL's.
