Algae Disks

no idea. I have a flying fox and a pleco, and the flying fox zooms to the algea waffer.
And, whenever the flying fox zips somewhere like that, my pleco oddly follows.
They're good chums.

I am putting algae disks in my tank, but my pleco doesn't seem to notice them. :sad: Any suggestions?

What sort of plec is it? As far as i am aware there aren't any pleco's called "dwarf plecs" but oto's are sometimes referred to as "dwarf suckers";

Not all plecs are vegetarian, some have very meat orientated diets, while as others are difficult to get onto prepared foods which is why you must be prepared to provide them with fresh food sources like algae or various types sea food etc.

Also, if the plec is not hungry, it won't eat. Its even more unlikely to eat the algae wafers is they have been in the tank for a long time or the plec isn't feeling well, how long is the plec and how much have you tried feeding it recently?

Sorry I forgot to get back to you. He eats them now. I think the problem was that he didn't notice them since he is a lone pleco in a 30 gallon tank and he sleeps on the walls all day. He eats the wafers at night.

Tokis-Phoenix, what do u mean by "dwarf plec"?Because from wat i can see, u r the only one who's stated that

I really don't know what it is. The label said they were "wide-mouth plecos", although I've been told that doesn't exist.

It's definatly a pleco, by the way, not an oto.

I think its a common plec now. What kind is the picture in your sig, smithrc? It looks just like that! I also saw a profile in a book about a spotted plec that looked like mine.

Awesome website, smithrc!!!!!
