Aldi, Selling 54L Complete Setup £50

No need to say I'm being 'stupid', I'm just pointing something out, not everyone knows your/my point. Anyway, not every tank producer has photos of unsuitable fish in an unsuitable tank, your exaggerating a bit.
Carl

I didn't mean you are stupid, just you are being a little silly about the reaction to the box.

If you think I am exaggerating please just go look in your LFS at the boxes tanks are packaged in. Nearly all of them feature fish which either aren't suitable to go together or just aren't suitable for that tank. Like I previously said Hagen are notorious for it, the Fluval and Elite tanks have bad packaging with mostly fancy goldfishes, in fact the Fluval Chi shows you 2/3 Goldfish in that tank. If you look at the Juwel tanks for example nearly all their product pictures shows you them stocked with a tonne of Barbs and Platys or similar. In fact there was one brand I saw advertising the box with Discus on a 125l.

I think this tank offer is a reasonably good offer, especially for anyone looking to pick up a cheap setup new or old fishkeeper.

Furthermore I'm surprised no one has noticed they're putting a 150w heater in this 54litre tank. That is 54 assuming you don't have substrate and fill it right up to the top. Unless that heater has an amazing thermostat I would expect to see some fish on the menu for Christmas dinner.

pretty good but i think it was these i read alot about the lights failing and when you contact the makers they send yoou a non water proof household light fitting

Can i echo this statement, last time they sold this tank we where inundated with threads regarding the light issues.

heres just one of them...

Right, lets get real here  the picture in the tank is obviously superimposed (photo shopped badly?) and the person in the advertising agency who did it has no idea about fish keeping but what the heck.

Back to the OP's post, it does sound good value but is it? Personally I would avoid these sort of offers like the plague. The back up if things goes wrong, I reckon, is nil. Ok, in this country you get a years guarantee but if the company cannot supply the parts/replacement this will not help your stock. It's not like a TV, if it's broke you don't have to use it but with a fish tank you cannot apply this!

Again, personally, if this were my budget then I would be looking for secondhand and better quality bargains on eBay or on these forums. Even the LFS should be able to offer better alternatives with the benefit of back up which is in their interest.

Whatever you decide, welcome to fish keeping :good:

:X Quite off-putting

Also, is it me or does the '4mm glass' sound too thin for a tank of 54 litres?

Carl
