Hi,
I recently purchased a pleco from my local fish store and he was just staying in the back of the tank for the first three days. But now he has been at the top back corner of the tank for the past 30 or so hours and will harldy movie even if I touch him! Is something wrong? Or is this normal?

Thanks
David

I'd say its normal, when mine was young I went to move him to another tank and he wouldn't move I had to stick my hand in there to pop him off the glass while I had the net around him. He just fell into the net now he swims around like crazy. My other one will stay in spots for long periods of time too. I'd just make sure it has lots of places to hide, it might just be adjusting to everything new.

Mine is the same as well, if the lights were on I'd never see him and he only came out at night but he's now found a new place to suck on which is my new fluval heater, at the top where the LCD thermometer display is which is the front right corner of the tank but on the other side of lights and he's quite happy there hours on end.

Being albino, I'm not sure if they are more sensitive to lights just like human albinos are. He seems to act that way a lot of the time.

I can remember when I first had him he was very similar to yours and as aquariumart22 has said, make sure there are lots of hiding places.

Mine also has a bent spine too which doesn't hold him back at all apart from the poor thing looks like he has been in a car crash

I look into my tank a few seconds ago and see that my pleco has died :/ I don't know why all the rest of the fish are fine

Sorry to hear that.
I got a baby albino bristlenose(not high fin) a month or maybe a bit longer ago and it is highly active. It's all over the place and is not using any caves to hide yet so I wouldn't think hiding and staying on one spot is normal.
Did you feed him algae wafers or anything? Did he try to eat at all?
You might have got a bad one that was on it's way out as they say but do make sure you acclimate them properly before putting into the tank as he may have got a bit of a shock and more sensitive or underfed fish with weaker immune system won't survive this. If you get another one, drop a slice of cucumber at the bottom. Both my plecos go crazy for it(although not the most nutritious veg) and is best in the beginning to feed them with something that the rest of the fish won't attack too. They'll feel safer this way when eating and adjust better. Eventually they won't be afraid fighting the hole tank over an algae wafer :D
