My question is - I am currently treating my 40l with anti internal bacteria so I have my 4" airstone turned full up to increase oxygen as much as possible. I normally have it turned down quite a bit because its a really powerful pump. But I quite like the look of having it on full on so would it do any harm by having it full on in the long term after I've finished medicating? Can you have too much oxygen in there?

Not funny I get allowed of stick.
As long as it not blowing the fish around its fine to leave it on full time.

Don't use my name in title threads, I don't like it.

I truely am sorry Wilder, I have now edited hopefully before too many people saw it. Feel free to edit any comments in response and I will do so also...

Depends on what fish and what deco you have, remember they have to sleep sometime too...

Just an observation - if you have your tank top glass covered you will likely get a good supply of water on the cover and that being the closest to the light source, a crop of algae will appear. If you happen to have live plants and the algae does not have nutrients to grow, you will still get deposits on the glass and it will require more cleaning. If it is not glass covered or loosely covered you will find your evaporation rate increases considerably. I too like the effect of a moving line of bubbles and believe the movement created in the water makes positive differences in the tank health.

Hmmm, an intersting point. I have a plastic lid with the light inside it and no live plants but yes, I have noticed a green sludge and brown sludge on the lid directly above the airstone. It has always grown there but yeah its definately worse since having the airstone full on. I take it that I will just have to clean it more often!?!? Oh well...

Good point though, thanks for that
