I plan on running an air pump in my 240l tank when cycled and was looking for a pump that will run 2 x 20 - 30cm stones, can anyone recommend to me a nice QUITE pump :)

Cheers

i have been doing the same thing all day, but i have found a few on seapets.com - On this link there is a list of brands, and a range of pumps, varying in power and cost. On every pump it will tell you what size tank it's suitable for. http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aquarium-supplies/fish-tank-equipment/aquarium-air-pumps/

I think this one is probably best for you. http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aquarium-supplies/fish-tank-equipment/aquarium-air-pumps/rena-air-pumps/rena-300-air-pump.html for tanks 150 - 300 litres

Thanks, the Tetratec Air Pump Aps300 seems ok nice and quite, anyone use one of these ?

I bought one of these on the recommendation of the guy I bought my tank from as he was running one and I have been very impressed

I have used 2-3 air pumps and the questest I have used was Rena. They cost a bit more but are more then worth it.

Just happens that I have a tetratec 400 and I'll not be using it....

I use a Rena pump.
They are also supposed to be a bit quieter than other brands.

Tanks for the replies ill have a look at the rena pumps. Royster have you used the pump at all ?

Cheers LP

Mine are Tetratec pumps - yes, they are quiet providing they are on a stable flat surface - they do vibrate (silently most of the time) and can move across a slippery surface (even though their legs have a rubberised finish). And don't do what I did and position it near the edge of anything (e.g. tank lid or shelf) as over a period of time they do move and mine fell off!

I was thinking of placing the pump in the cupboard below the tank which is a juwel rio240 to hopefully shut out any noise.

Again thanks for the replies guys i appreciate it.
