i've never made anything myself in terms of aquariums and aquarium equipment, but im interested in puting in some airation into my fish tank.

i like the way the bubbles look.

i havent been able to spot one in the fish stores, but im thinking its probably very pricy like $40 right?

im thinkin that maybe there is some cheap way to make somthing like that myself.

has anyone done it be4? is it easy? any advice on how i would go making somthing like this?

Hi.

Air pumps do not have to be that pricey. (Interpet Mini £7.95......$15 ?) If you dont mind basic then a small pump, a length of tubing with a non return valve can be found very cheaply, even second hand. then a long airstone to produce a 'curtain' of bubbles may create the effect that you would like. Again they are cheap. Youcould do the whole thing for half what you thought maybe?

You say you have not been able to "spot one" what are you looking for?

doresy's post iv personally found is the common way to do it, and most cost effective and it requires 4-5 things to get underway as mentioned in the post.

I recently got a Air-pump for my 20G Tank. It was about $9.00. And I had to buy a nozzle which cost around $1.50. Therefore total it was not more than $12.00.
But one problem I found that it was creating too much bubble which I really didn't think good for my fishes. Then I changed the Pump and got a pump for 5-10G Tank capacity. It worked fine. It still gives me sufficient bubble for my 20G. And the cost is also $2.00 less.
Only think you need with them is a decor where you can add the nozzle for creating a bubble. You can get them in any pet-store for $5 to $15 bucks. Therefore your total cost should not go beyond $20 -$25.
Good Luck for your airation plan.
