Hi,

Ive only got a small ish tank but wanted to add something like an air stone in there, but, and this might sound stupid, i dont know what you do get it to work?

Im guessing ill just need a air pump, ive seen a battery air pump for like under £14 and it has:

- Provides auxiliary air when main air source fails
- Reliable back-up air source during household electrical power failure
- Portable aerator for fish in transit
- Comes with air stone and 18" tubing
- Uses two "D" cell batteries (not included)
- Brass cylinder improvement

Is that all i need? also how noisy would the pump be?

Thanks and sorry for the stupid question :)

No stupid question :)

There are battery operated ones, but why not get a mains powered pump ? such as one of these Tetratec ones ? Your lfs should stock various different brands though.

Then you just need some plain airline and a small airstone :)

Attached airline to pump (just push it into the air vent) and then attach airstone to the other end of the airline - instert airstone side in tank.

Hope that helps.

thank you for your help...

ill have a look at that link and will buy something soon i hope..

Thanks again

So would these be ok together and ok for my tank?

Tetra APS 50 (£9.99)
Algarde Airline 6mm x 4m (£1.50)
and Aqua air stone 15cm (£1.50)

Thanks!

Mike

I think that a 1" (2.5cm) air stone would be sufficent for your tank, but the rest seems spot on!

ONE IMPORTANT THING! Dont forget to get yourself a "non-return" valve if you are going to keep you pump below water level. If you will keep your pump above/on top of your tank you dont need a NRV (gravity is your friend). Good luck. You understand that???
