Hey me again with another question.

What do you all think of airstones? I think they look really nice and I've been told they're also a good way of injecting more oxygen into your tank. Do you agree with that? Also can you recommend a good (quiet!) pump I can get to power it?

im currently using a Tetratec APS300 pump with a 12 inch air stone.. the pump is nice and quiet and produces a nice curtain of bubbles which the fish love swimming into

I have this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753029&lmdn=Product+Type

It's been working for the last month and is super quiet.

i found adding a two gang adapter is a great

cheap, gives multiple outlets and best of all gives you control over airflow - i prefer a bubbling (fart like) bubble instead of the raging torrent you sometimes get from pumps

i have this for sale and i find it very quite

Thanks everyone. I had one when I was a kid and it was so loud I couldn't have it on when I was asleep!

Airstones and Air curtains look good. but that's about all they do for your tank. whilst is true, a little, O2 is added with their use. the vast majority of this is when the bubbles burst on the surface. to add, significant, amounts of O2 to the water. you would be best to put the filter outlet on, or close to, the water surface.

that said, i am a big fan. they look good, and many fish enjoy (or seem to) playing in the flow.
as for a pump? well i have a "cheapo" Peak Aquatics AP1004. it cost £15 4 odd years ago, and has twin outlets and flow adjustment. it is quiet being, virtually, inaudible through the day, and having a gentle humm through the night.
