Are any of you using air pumps in small tanks (1-3 gallon)? If so, what kind and what size? I know bettas don't require them, but I've heard some people say they use them.

i don't normally use airpumps any of my tanks, but i use it to give the water more air(oxygen) when ever i do water changes.

you dont need an air pump unless you get a filter that is powered by one. (corner or sponge). but if you do have one of those, you have to get a valve to regulate the flow since bettas do not appreciate turbulence.

My tanks are 4.5 Gallons and I use an Algarde Biofoam45 sponge filter combined with an AVI MINI Interpet Airvolution airpump (flow of 75 Litres per Hour) I dont think you can get any slower than that, remembering that the smaller your tank the stronger the current will be (due to the surface volume)
