Hi

I have one of large noisy air pumps from china, and I wonder is there nice and quiet alternative?


basically what is possible most quiet air pump?

In my experience, theres no such thing as a "quiet" air pump.... unless you want to spend a bit, all budget pumps use the mains electricity to wobble a magnet - this is the hum you hear !

If you must use a pump, maybe you could put it inside a piece of furniture, or better still in an adjacent room (drill through a wall) to mask the sound - but make sure it has good ventilation :good:

HATE air pumps :)
 
AIr is noisy, and the more you move, the noisier it is. I just bought a TetraTec APS400 as they are supposed to be 'whisper quiet'.... well, I don't know who is whispering, but I can certainly hear it. I'm trying to work out how to quieten it down now. I have it shut in the cupboard under my tank, but that doesn't really seem to make much difference.
 
try moving the air stone further down in the tank..
put the air pump on a tile of polystyrene..
it reduces the noise quite a fair bit..
