hey all

Finally got my tank delivered (took just over two weeks) Its all set up, and just beginning to cycle now.

When I turn my air pump on (going to an air brick and an air stone, both buried under gravel) the bubbles raise to the surface of the tank (obviously) but when they pop they seem to spit, this is making my lights wet, how can I stop this?

I have tried using just 1 port off of the pump (elite 802) and splitting the rubber tubing to each of the air stone and brick, but that didnt do anything, so I went to my LFS and bought some clamps, they restrict the airflow, and I can reduce it so much that I can count the bubbles rising, but they still pop and spit at my lights.

Is this normal? How can I stop it from happening?

I have thought about using floating plants on the surface, but I dont really want to go down the route of real plants in my tank yet until I have more experience in fish keeping.

TIA guys

it is normal, don't worry your lights are designed to get wet. they will regardless with condensation anyway.

hope this puts your mind at rest :)
