After much trial, tribulation, grinding of teeth, and swearing... my tank is finally cycled. I got myself some ghost shrimp today and am in the process of acclimating them to their new environment.

Which means... I can add one of my bettas now. :D

The current in there is fairly gentle with the intake silghty obstructed with some bogwood, and the air bubbler turned off. I may gangvalve the air bubbler later and turn it back on.

Aaaah, I hope the little bugger likes it. He better like it.

Do you think I should add him tonight or tomorrow after I'm sure the shrimp are settled in?

Congrads. I just came back from the LFS today and bought a 5gallon tank that I'm going to put the betta that I'm getting from WUV. So exciting. Well i'm not sure it would make a diffrence if you put the betta in tonight or tommorow. I would just put it in tonight... ;)

Well, all of my readings are good, but I've had so much trouble with the tank while cycling it, I'm kinda paranoid about adding Furin to it. heh. A little paranoia is a good thing to have in this hobby, I believe.

ammonia and nitrites were at 0ppm, and i just finished a big water change to bring my nitrates down to 0ppm. my water is a tad cloudy, but it was far worse the last time i changed water a week ago. all my hydra are almost completely (if not completely) gone. i think my pond snails actually ate them. the only uninvited guests in the tank right now, are those little tiny worms that look like bits of threads whose name i can never remember, but fish happily call 'lunch'.

Should I wait for the clouding that resulted from my water change to settle before adding him?
