My male sunburst red platy seems to all of the sudden gotten aggressive to my two sunburst red females. He seems to have no problem sharing space with my 3 pandas. I think i've seen at least one of the females tail slap him. Is this something I should worry about or should I just let the three of them work it out themselves?

I think I just figured out his problem and there isn't much I can do about it lol. He's going to have to work this out himself. I just hope no one gets hurt or dies before he works it out lol

Sounds to me like he is harrassing them as part of a mating game.

Unless fins start to disappear, I wouldn't be overly worried about it. Often males chase females around the tank as platies, mollies, swordtail males enjoy breeding nonstop. If he persists to bother them maybe a extra female or two will help.

He's not just chasing them. They will be across the tank and he will charge at them. I think he's a little frustrated. I watched him last night after I posted this try to mate with my male panda who was swimming beside him....lol.

I don't know if the females that are there won't hold still long enough or if its because he is as big as the girls are so they are not wanting to breed with him. Or if it is just that he is inexperienced and not totally sure what to do.

I have a male Molly who only tries to mate with male platys =\ if he gets too frisky there can be a lot of chasing and tail slapping. They sort it out eventually.
