added a small shoal (10) of rummynose tetra's to my tank. all was good for about a week but one of them has decided to go and constantly attack my Pearl Gourami. I've sat and watched and it's the same fish all the time. the Pearl is fine aslong as it stays in the corner or doesn't move but any crossing of the tank results in this one rummynose going after if with what looks like nipping over and over until the Pearl backs into the corner again. never had any problem with rummynose aggression before, do you think i've just got a rogue psycho fish or are rummy's known for this?

that is very strange. how are the water stats? how big is the tank?
i would separate the fish is the water stats are fine and the tank is big enough for all the fish and there is no over crowding. also how long has your tank been set up?

water parameters are fine and tank has been up years. only recent change is rescaping and restocking

in terms of stocking it's fine afaik. tank is 110l with stocking of;

1 x Pearl Gourami
1 x Bristlenose Plec
10 x Rummynose Tetra
6 x Ruby Barb
4 x Albino Cory

just seem's to be this one rummynose doesn't like the Pearl moving for some reason

didn't know you could keep barbs with tetras... well not an expert on that soo i'll leave that alone

if he is just being very aggressive i would just take him back to the store. you can always try to add more hiding spots and make the tank have not a straight line of view.. meaning if the fish is on one side of the tank it cant see all the way to the other side... maybe that will help

and if the gourami is smaller then the tetra then its probably about territory cause i think the max size for a pearl gourami is 6 inches, so they shouldn't have any issues if they are the biggest fish in the tank..

Ruby Barb's aren't aggressive, they're probably the most peaceful fish i seem to have in the tank

i re-arranged all the decor and said rummynose now seems to leaves the Pearl alone but instead has decided to now constantly nip at my cory's. think i've just got a bad egg
