I have a small shoal of 8 Lemon Tetras... they have only been in the tank for a couple of days but seem very comfortable.. They feel free to wander and explore on their own and they don't feel like they all have to be in a school. I do have one though that seems to bully a couple of the others. He chases them from one end of the tank to the other. I was very surprised to see this behavior from them.. Is this normal or the sign of something else??? BTW its a 38 gallon tank that is planted and has plenty of hiding spots with some floating plants as well... Thanks

I had about 14 in the tank once, I didn't find them overly aggressive, I think the trick was to have as many males as possible, that way they would always be displaying and flaring there fins at each other adn doing there "twisty" dance.. They did chase each other occassionaly but never anything serious :good:

Shoaling behaviour is used for protection against predators, so the fact that they don't feel the need to shoal means they must be feeling secure and safe in their tank.
