I thought that it would be interesting to see what the most aggressive fish anyone here has ever kept?

Scleropages jardini (australian arowana), they rank as one of the most aggressive fishes in the world and most specimins over 18" have to be kept alone. Mine is around 16" now and the aggression levels are rising all the time, it still has tankmates for the moment but if it actually starts causing damage to other fish rather than just chasing and the occasional nip it will be gone. Second most aggressive was a Tilapia buttikofferii, imagine a cichlid with the speed and aggression of a mubna and the size and strength of a central american guatapod, these rank in the top 40 of all cichlids for aggression, mine was donated to a public aquarium it got so bad.

Sunfish. Killed everyone in the tank till the red eye bass got in their, then he became lord of the tank. Then I think the eels killed them both, but I forget.

Not really kept that many aggressive fish. I do have cichlids, but none of the well known aggressive ones. So I guess I'd have to say my severum for sheer size and ability to just scare the other fish away if he wants to swim in a particular bit of the tank today!!!
Having said that, my Sajica pair got pretty aggressive when breeding, they recently had a batch of fry and all the other fish in the tank were huddled in the opposite corner to them!! They lost all the babies (I think to the clown loaches mainly) so I'm about to get them a separate tank, but hey thats another story!!!!

EDIT: BTW CFC, I did a google search on that cichlid you mentioned, and it came up with 0 results!!! does it have any other names?

Male Bettas, 3 Spot Gouramis and Red Tailed Sharks are the most aggressive fish I've kept. Fairly tame and small compared to most other fish in the thread.

Il second Teelie on the Gourami.

Nothing as glamorous as you guys, but our female blue opaline gourami has some serious attitude.....
Thats providing she doesnt run into the plec when he's eating his cucumber :) Then theres trouble, becomes a red eyed plec then!!!

My Midas/Red Devil mix.
He rips apart the tank, picks up stones and hits them against the glass when i really get him reved up, he has killed heaps of tank mates and its very hard to clean his tank because he bites so much, even when i just walk upto him he starts to bite the window, he even jumped out once to bite my hand.

My most aggressive fish is a pearl gourami. :D He shares my 55 gallon tank with one male 3 spot gourami (and a bunch of other fish) who he chases whenever he sees him.

Surprisingly, I never see the 3 spot fight back, but somehow the pearl is the one who always seems to go around with nipped fins.

sorry my fault, head not quite with it at 6am so i spelt the name slightly wrong, try searching Tilapia buttikoferi or Zebra Tilapia.
