Hey guys I need help! I just got 5 zebra danios yesterday..... And one of the larger females is being really aggressive to the rest of them.... It's getting worse by the hour..what's going on?!?

well....technically they are glofish...but the only difference is the color?...right? I wasnt sure what to do because the female was getting really aggressive...until all the other danios had their fins clamped...so i isolated her. She seems to be fine.....the others are i think starting to relax...they're slowly coaxing out of their clamped fins. o_O did i do the right thing? i just didnt want anything to get any worse...meaning stressing the others out to death.

I was also reading before i got them that the females become aggressive when they want to mate...and they get kind fat...well i looked at her and she is rather round compared to the others. But shes also the largest so in not sure if the others are sexually mature. Would breeding them stop her aggression?

They are just having fun, ill get a video of my danios and show you, they fight by posing , which means they stand completely still and the first one to move loses, e.g getting sucked too close to the filter or forgetting what they are doing

but what exlpains the clamped fins? Aren't they stressed out?

They clamp their fins and then unclamp them, just for fun. Imagine i you had to drag around huge fins all the time,

IF they were stressed out they hide, when i had them sick, thats all they did.

If they aren't swimming about wildly you have an issue with them.

Ohhhh k. Yea I was really confused.... They were acting fine it's just how they kept their fins thru me off. Ok.... It's all good. Thanks!!!!

My danios clamp their fins from time to time, but unclamp them when they aren't as stressed out. Normally they'll clamp their fins out of stress, but sometimes it can be a disease (parasite). (But they won't gradually unclamp them if it is a disease, you'll have to treat it.)

Zebra danios spawn on their own a lot of times, but mostly all of the eggs get eaten. You will be best off setting up a seperate tank to spawn them in if you want to.
