I agree, FishEnthusiast.

I'm 19 myself. I wonder what the average age is... I bet it varies quite a bit!

Well, I'm 23, and Saucy's 20.

Aannd.. I don't think there's too much aggression and expression, maybe just a touch of too much over-doing it is what i would call it. I try, with every "negative" (or as I would like to call it, reality :) ) post I make I try to post something positive, too.

There is just a ton of negative out there when it comes to betta -- a lot of myth and wrong theory, and it drives each and every one of us nutso, and I know it helps, in an almost theroputic way to post about it here, but that's seemingly no more. and I understand why :)

I think, however we should have one sticky thread for walmart and all things walmart-ish. :)

I agree.

I know some stores have definitely made a turn around, simply because of a few calls from members. So we are making a difference, and I intend to start doing some leg work myself to get the stores around me to straighten up.

I do think there should be an official sticky for Walmarts and LFS's, where we can rant and rave and keep eachother updated and whine and blahblahblah... :p

I had no idea so many people on here were in their early teens. I have noticed a few threads getting out of hand lately, but hopefully that will change. You can be passionate about something, while being respectful and getting your point across. BTW I'm 21.

I know that there is a lot of negative in the fishkeeping world in general. I think that we all know that. We are making a difference, whether by complaining to the store, or by quietly making a fishes life better in some way. Here is my point though. Since we all know it is happening, why drag some members, including myself down by sad/negative stories? IMO it serves little purpose but to get people riled up, angry, sad, mad etc...

If one buys a betta and wants to talk about it here, I don't see a problem with that, I do it all the time. You will notice though, I rarely say where I got my betta from. Often on here, if the fish was purchased from WM, Petsmart, Petcetera or any other known bad place, it seems the OP(opening poster) says where they are from. Even if the fish is perfectly healthy. I don't see the point in that. I also don't see the point in saying "I got a healthy betta, but the conditions were so horrible, the store/person should (insert horrible comments here)." If a poster really felt that way, why did they purchase a healthy betta from that place/person to begin with? These same people buy a betta from somewhere else that isn't so bad, and instead they say either nothing about where the fish came from, or they say lfs. That confuses me.

Like the new rules say, let's bring back the positive side of fishkeeping. I got into this hobby because it is fun and I enjoy my fish. I complain about the stores in my area, please don't get me wrong, I just try not to do it here, I do it with my friends. I have been heard to say that a store should be shut down, or an employee should be fired, but never on this forum, that I am aware of.

Maybe I am lucky in that my husband and one of my closest friends are avid fishkeepers too, so we have hours of fishy conversations. I am able to vent with tham and they understand. Perhaps there are people on here that don't have that luxury. If you are one of these people and feel the need to vent, please don't hesitate to pm me or someone else on the forum that you may feel close to, I am more than willing to lend an "ear" so to speak. I agree it does help to get it off your chest. I just think there are better ways to go about it. The PM system on here is great. It lends a sense of comraderie that is lacking on the public side of this forum. At least that is how I feel.

Oh yeah, and if anyone is interested I am 26. I question that everyday though, because I don't feel a day over 18 most times. Time really does fly once you hit about 21.

Neither did I until the last time there was a "how old are you?" thread. Most people seemed to be in their teens or early twenties! I'm 19 myself, for the record.

I am always surprised to read how young some of the most knowledgeable and helpful people are here. It's reassuring to know that there are responsible young adults out there. I myself am fast approaching 50.
