i have a 15gal i could put my mollies into for abit...but i dunno how long it would be before its ready...and how long it would take for me to get the money and space for a 50gal...id love one...but i dont think my parents would!
oops didnt see that u lived in the uk , sorry :/ , well my parents neither like the idea that i want even more tanks than what i already have! (29 and 10 us gal) although you can keep the 55 in the living room ? and tryto convince them like you keep the shark and they buy the 55 and they will choose the fish that are able to keep with the shark

Ideal tank mates include: Barbs, Danios, Gouramis, Rainbowfish, similar sized New World Cichlids, Loaches, Plecos, and similar sized Scavenger Catfish.

my mom loves to choose :) and my dad well my dad is my dad he likes it tho but i dunno he is another story :p well hope tht helped

i think its big enough.... to house your mollies and in the meanwhile start saving some money and buy the 50 gallon tank....
Hi Dolores,

I would not keep one molly is a fish bowl...nevermind five. It's too small. I don't know if they need a heater(I have never kept them) but all fish should have a filter.
WELL it was an idea for the moment ... i dont kno it was big and cheap.... and theres a bowl filter ;)

the only way i could fit it anyway is either wait for our garage to be converted...could possibly be another year! or get my brother to move his PC outta this kitchen..hes blocking two plug sockets which i could use...the only prob is its right by the patio doors which get direct sunlight in the afternoon...not that it matters anway cause i dont have no money and theres no way my mom and dad are gonna let me have another tank in the kitchen..i always wanted to keep cichlids..and larger fish...but ive never had big enough tank..maybe i could convince them in time...but its gonna take black mail and money bribes and alot of tears...

hehe...i just spoke to my mom and dad about it and they didn't say yes...but they didn't say no...which is always a good thing...cause it basically means...there gonna let me :D all i gotta do now i save up the money i think...muahuaha...it was easier than i thought

awww :( im sorry to hear that... well then i guess you could take him back to the lps or look for someone that can keep it ;)

edeited after reading your post:

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! :D :hyper: IM REAALLY GLAD TO HEAR THAT!! :D IM HAPPY FOR YOU!!! YUP ALL YOU HAVE TO DO NOW IS SAVE UP SOME MONEY AND BUY IT... IN THE MEAN WHILE TRY TO LOOK HOW ARE YOUR MOLLIES INTERACTIN WITH HIM AND MOVE THEM TO THE 15G (oops sorry caps)

and you'll have no problem cuz as far as i kno mollies are very hardy fish

well hope i had helped you :) break a leg!

this is how looks yours?

Minimum Tank Size: 50 gallons
Care Level: Moderate
Tank Conditions: 72-79°F; pH 6.5-7.5; dH 10-15
Temperament: Semi-aggressive
Max. Size In Aquarium: Up to 4"
Diet: Omnivore
Origin: Farm Raised, Thailand
Family: Cyprinidae

The Redtail Shark, also known as the Redtail Black Shark is great for the semi-aggressive community aquarium, as long as they are the sole sharks and the other tankmates are of similar size. The Redtail Shark is a beautiful fish with a jet black body and a bright red tail. The dorsal fin is marked with a white tip.

It requires a large aquarium with driftwood, rocks, and spots of dense vegetation. This shark may set up territories around the aquarium. The Redtail Shark will become very aggressive towards its own species when mature.

Unfortunately, the breeding habits of the Redtail Shark have not been documented.

An omnivore, the Redtail Shark is not a particularly finicky eater. Flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex, as well as vegetable-based foods should be fed.

Ideal tank mates include: Barbs, Danios, Gouramis, Rainbowfish, similar sized New World Cichlids, Loaches, Plecos, and similar sized Scavenger Catfish.

thats what i searched to give you a little information for your shark :) hope that helped :)
Dolores,
50 gallons is a bit over the top isn't it!!!!!! There would be no point in getting a RTBS, I mean I have had 3 before (on fourth) and 2 had survived for years in my small community tank (third fought to the death with angelfish).

Dolores: I know you were trying to help...I was just saying why I wouldn't do it. I didn't know that it came with a filter(it didn't list it...or at least I didn't see it. ).

nahh dont worry :) it was myy bad im sorry, and IMO i think not everybody has the same luck Pleco-Heaven, he might have the same luck as you with his, but the mollies are going to die if he keeps the shark in there! and if you search you can et 50 gallon tanks really cheap! as i sed my lps is sellin every 55g they hace in stock this week for 78.88 US$ ! either he buy the large tank for the shark cuz theres no way a shark could survive in a 20 gallon wich if im not wrong those 20 gallon are imperial gallons, wich that means is smaller that 20 us gallon, theres a difference in that. and sharks are not able with any kind of livebearer! as far as i know.

that was my opinion, i mean, dont take it bad, but the way you said "50 gallons is a bit over the top isn't it!!!!!! " it was a little bit rude. if he can manage a 50 gallon in his house with his money, theres no problem. also his parents might like the idea on choosing the fish that are able to be kept with the shark. its a lot of fun when your parents get into the same hobbies as you .

now i want to ask you; how many gallons was your tank, and how many "years" they survived..... as its been already told by ruby shark, he might found a shark that doesnt bother the community, but its just a matter of luck (like yours) if he found one that doesnt bother mollies.

just my opinion and sorry if i sed something that could offend someone.
