Hi, Recently our silver molly has been acting what is seems is aggresive. I tried to look up his behaviours online but cant find anything. I'd like to remedy the situation especially before it kills any other fish.
Tank size: 10 gallon
tank temp: ~80 F
Dont have any kits, never tested amm and other levels
Volume and Frequency of water changes: 1/3 of tank every month with filter change.
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: Fake plants, tap water additive to neutralize chlorine and other minerials
Tank inhabitants: 2 black skirt tetra, 2 glow tetra, 1 silver molly, 1 neon tetra
Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Glow tetra were added about a month ago, as well as the neon tetra
Exposure to chemicals: no?
Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): Recently the silver molly has been following around our large black skirt tetra, We have 2, a large one and one half the size. Both were purchased at the same time cant differentiate M/F they have exactly same fins and markings. The molly will swim at the large BST sometimes hitting it with its nose. I've also seen the molly swim at it and display its top fin. Another behaviour is following it directly under it, with its nose against the BST's belly. We were told that silver mollys can be territorial and aggresive at times. I've seen it do these behaviours in the past, severial months ago but they didnt escalate to the point they did this week. While looking at the tank i noticed the large BST had its right side pectoral fin bitten bad, it was almost a stub. The small BST also has a chunk taken out of its dorsal fin. Could someone please explain whats going on in the tank, is the silver molly being aggresive and should it be removed? I've tried adding some aqua salt to calm them, i've also tried doing a 40% water change in the last 48 hours nothing has changed.
