firstly, mods, feel free to move this to where you think i'll get a better response ;)

my brother has decided he wants some african dwarf frogs. we aren't going to buy him his own tank for a few reasons (1. tanks are expensive 2. he has been known to give up on / get bored of pets and fish - he doesn't care for his guinea pig and gave up on goldfish when he had a few deaths -_- ). so we had the clever idea of putting some frogs in my tank, which is good because when he gets 'bored' of them, i'll have some adf's to look after  .

anyway, i need to know about care of them. will they be ok with the fish in my sig (the big tank, not with the betta)?? what do they eat? are they fairly hardy?

also, could someone please just say whether or not they need some land to go on (i'm almost 100% sure that they don't, but you know what brothers are like - they never belive you  , so he says someone else has to type it for him to believe it's true  ). are adf's worth keeping, or are they quite boring? y'see, my brother has a bit of a short attention span, and it has to be something that'll keep him happy for... ooh... 5 minutes? :look:

They do not need land but should be treated more like you would a cory cat. They tend to feed off the bottom and actually do quite well with Bettas.

Mine lives with a serpea tetra that has swim bladder disease in a 2 gallon eclipse tank. They do need a top or they may escape. He eats flake from the bottom and the occasional guppy fry. Seems to love a bit of frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp too, but only occasionally. I hear that they are very sensitive to water parameters, so you need to keep up with the cleanings :D Lastly, they are totally aquatic!

I have had serveral ...no land required...fanofish is right about all they say...
I will add that they tend to be about as smart as the rocks they sit on ...
and blind or mine have been.. both mine starved to death I had to put food right next to them and hope I didnt scare em at the same time... my wholtank suffered from over feeding as I tried to get the da** frog to eat. he/she/it would tackle a beef heart for 15min at a time and get very fat then disapear for a day or two but as my fish got smarter than IT did they would take it away. they are funny to watch and I wish I could figure a way to keep one but sooo much bother. and food waste. if you can find a way to feed IT let me know.

thank you everyone. :D i'll be showing my brother some online pictures, to see what he thinks (he changes his mind a lot!! )
