Hi everyone - had my frogs and fish for two weeks now, and am concerned about the frogs (especially with one of them dying a few days ago - got trapped)

i have the option of splitting a 110L (24G) with a divider, possibly making a 25L and 85L area. the plan would be to keep the frogs separate so I can feed them easier, and make sure they dont get trapped or have food stolen etc. - at the moment the tank is heavily planted, which makes it even more difficult to ever find or see the frogs, which if I split the tank I'd keep mostly to the fish side, with just a few smaller grassy plants for the frogs

what do you think - keep the frogs as they are, or divide the tank so I can make sure they're all alive lol :S

thanks!

When it comes to feeding time in my tank i would pour a little of the water from my froven bloodworm(defrosted obviosuly), into the tank. Leave it for a minute or 2 and just let the frogs smell the food, they soon come out of hiding when they know its there.

thats part of the problem - because of the number of plants etc. in there, its difficult to see the frogs at all - they dont particularly need to come to the front for food, as its pushed around the tank by the water flow anyway, but as they dont usually come forward I cant tell if they are eating or not

only the one frog comes forward, but the other I havent seen for a few days (a bad sign, that happened to the last one and it had got trapped somewhere) - another consideration for dividing the tank, as I can make sure nothing on the frog side can trap them

Could you even make room on the floor of the tank, clear some plant or moove them closer together for space. If not then i would say yes divide it jus dont make it too smallfor the frogs.

There is some space on the floor (about 1/4th floorspace), but they seem to prefer hiding well towards the back of the tank, completely hidden by everything (and im sure if I cleared a space there, they'd hide in another spot!)

the problem isnt that theres no space to feed them, its just that theyre not at all interested in going there - not even tempted by food. at least with the divided tank the food would be just for them, they could eat it when they want, and I'd know they'd been eating

to be honest, im just very concerned about the frogs - i'd personally feel happier if they were separated from the fish, but I dont want to disturb them unnecessarily etc.

thanks drufly

Keep us updated about what you decide 2 do. The only thing is most frogs will try and hide anywhere, mine have been found inbetween the glass and the filter tray at the top ofmy tank.

funnily enough I got a good photo of one of the frogs hanging from the top of the filter - its on my website if you want to look. at the moment I'm thinking I'll divide the tank - at the end of the day, give it a few months and I can always take the divider back out

at least with the frogs separated they can still hide, but it'll be hiding in more controlled (and less dangerous) circumstances! gonna have a careful think about it this week and will decide by the weekend :)
