of the 6 ADF's I bought a few days ago, one of them has died already - he was the smallest of the 6 (less than 1cm long) so the stress probably got to him where the others could deal with it

the other small one (two of them were tiny, the others were quite a bit bigger) now seems to be struggling to go for air - I haven't seen him surface for a few hours at least, but he's still moving around and munching on food, although every now and then he seems to leap upwards a bit then fall back to the floor - he doesn't struggle or anything, but he also seems to be walking in circles (he can get from one side to the other, but i'm wondering whether he might have a broken leg :()

anyone know how long ADF's can survive without surfacing for air? should I do something to get him nearer the surface so he can breathe without struggling? starting to get a bit worried because the other 5 are going for air every 15 - 30 minutes (sometimes more often)

thanks!! :)

edit: I think i acted a few minutes too late - he was still moving around, but by the time I got him to the surface he'd died :( that's two in one day, but both of them were very small and very weak - the rest thankfully still look fine and are very active, and water results are all clear (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate)

Thats a shame.
How are you finding them?
I am tempting to get some but they dont seem to move much and look pretty fragile...

since my last post on this thread another three frogs have died - another one on tuesday, one yesterday and one this morning, so I'm now down to three

once again they all look healthy enough, but then so did the one I found dead this morning - he'd been happily eating etc. last night! the one I found this morning was the last of my original batch (the other two died by accident (getting trapped etc)), so if there was any infection I assume it must have spread to him

as for the frogs themselves - while they're alive they're great! really good fun to watch, the most amusing little things hehe! very easy to get attached to lol, but they'll keep you entertained for hours at a time

they are quite fragile little things, but even so I think I must have had a bad batch. The original two that died got trapped etc., so best not to put them in with driftwood and big rocks they can get stuck under (my mistake number 1). if you decide to divide the tank, make sure its well sealed or the frogs will get back to the other side (my mistake number 2!)

i'd highly recommend getting these if you have a suitable home for them :)

I have one now that seems to be struggling for air, It's hard to tell how they're doing when they look dead
