just a quick one which got me worried!!!

I couldnt find the newish addiction to the tank, my underwater dwarf frog.

I looked everywhere for it, moved the bogwood, ornaments etc and couldnt find it anywhere!!!!

so the lid came off, and in my tank i have a U2 filter, and i use the venturi system on it so the flip top bit sits above the water level, and it was ontop of that!! i touched it to make sure it was still alive, and i kind of forced it back into the water.

is that normal behaviour?? or could something be wrong?

I wouldn't be too worried. ADF like to hide a lot so he probably just wondered up there. Though usually they like to stay in the water, so if it keeps on happening let us know.

thank you...

i got really worried at first when i couldnt find it, but now and again its been wondering up to the top using the thermometer to push its head out the water, and to find it ontop of my filter in a kind of frog splodge, i thought it wer dead till i touched it!!

Since they breath air from above the surface they sometimes get lazy and just sit above the waterline. I wouldn't be worried.

This is completely natural. They like to "perch" in areas near their home...it lets them relax, survey the area, and they can quickly get back into the water if they get startled and need to feel secure.

I saw how much my frogs liked doing this so I got them a floating log sold for turtle tanks - they love it!!!
