Bought 2 days ago for my 5 gallon that has been running for a while. It is filtered, temp is good, water is all good. There appears to be no physical injuries, i just found him on his back at the top of the tank, and really fat (ive read this b4 as death). I took it out, and IT MOVED:O.. i have taken some of the tank water and put him in a container. He is bloated like i said, and i mean bloated. he is a big guy (so i should prolly be saying a she), seemed completely fine at time of purchase and adding, was all good up untill tonight. as stated no sign of physical injuries. Any ideas of a cause? did i just get a sick one maybe?

luckely the good ol chain store has a 7 day return policy (this is because they are a GOOD store, nvr had a fish die from there because it was a bad fish)

How is it this morning? Sounds to me like bloat, fatal I'm afraid, it may well have appeared fine in the shop but was already ill.

yup, hes a goner.. that sucks.. bloat, that would make him have a massive bulge out one side?

Just one side, hmmmm, don't suppose you have a pic of him? Could be he had a blockage, most likely gravel, I had a frog die and after I sliced her open found a tiny piece of gravel, I only have sand in my tanks so she must of had it blocking her for a while, most likely she ingested it when in the shop tank(which had gravel).

A pic would help, did the frogs underside / eyes look red at all?

I am sending myself a pic i just took from my phone, yea on one side, no reddness that i saw (my eyes are still half shut),he even floats on that side more then the other,, i have sand, not gravel, so itdve to been the lfs is that was the case, possible tho. o heres the pic,

O and, hes still alive :eek: moved again, hes just really slow and sluggish, cant move normally or flip himself over.

That looks like bloat to me, it's fatal I'm afraid and I'll be surprised if he makes it through the day, if caught early enough it can be treated but from the looks of it your frog is too far gone, you can read more about the diseases that affect them here;

http://clawedfrogs.tripod.com/id6.html

That site is mainly about clawed frogs but the same diseases affect dwarfs as well.

alright thanks for the help, only medication id beable to come by b4 7 oclock tonight is melafix, should i put some of that in?

The only thing that may treat bloat is interpet no.9 anti-internal bacteria medicine, but that's when it's caught in the early stages, you could try interpet no.9 but there's not much hope I'm afraid.
