I thought you all could appreciate this, its also a way to show "newbies" that are considering buying one of these that they can be pretty beastly. Here, he's eating a Rosy Minnow thats one and a half times his length...

ACF eating minnow

EDIT : My terrible grammar...(lol)

Lol yours is still a baby, I'll have to get some pictures of mine sometime tommorow... I just had a snake shed so I'll be thawing pinkies out so I'll get one for the ACF, I have had her limited to 1ish a week to monitor her health and she hasn't changed so I'll shortly have her on 1 every 3-4 days along with her pellets/worms/bugs... I haven't gotten him fish for awhile so I'll need to pick some up eventually... She can probably take down 4 dozen minnows a week that are around 1-2 inches if I let her, she's 6 inches or so in body length and I'm hoping that having solid prey with bones and meat etc will actually get her to grow a bit larger... We will see ;)

Edit- Forgot to mention- these are very easy for a newbie to take care of and your post almost discourages them. They are excellant SOLITARY (I wouldn't keep mine with anything other than other ACFs, and only then if they grow up together) pets. I've enjoyed mine for several months now and are great fun to watch. Don't be afraid, know what your dealing with and you're fine.

Oh I agree they are great little guys, however, I keep hearing people who don't research these guys and end up wondering where their favorite fish went. I'm just giving people an opportunity to see first hand that they can eat a fish or two, lol

K as promised here is my ACF next to a pinkie mouse. Excuse the terrible picture. I had no live view because of low low battery, and I had bad light, and yes the glass/water is dirty get over it...

I had two frogs. My tank is covered, but i'm thinking they used the filter to get out. Never did find them . . .

African Clawed Frogs should not eat minnows or goldfish. They contain an enzyme that stops the frogs from absorbing vitamin B.
