It started raining - completely out of the blue - and the heavens opened. This was after 5 minutes

Hope you didn't get too friendly with this beasty! As a guide when they have small claws and a tail which is the same thickness as the abdomen this tends to mean their sting packs a BIG punch.
 
We only *just* missed stepping on it! And though we always wear shoes, it's mainly flip flops around our tents. When out hiking, we always had ankle high boots on. And we knew very well to always check our shoes before putting them on. The guide said this one would have done some major damage :crazy: had it stung one of use (hours aways from a hospital in the middle of nowhere!)
 
wow, when it rains .... it floods!

and ewww about the scorpion. i've only ever seen one in real life... but at least now i know about the claw/stinger/body thing. if i ever see another, i might remember that ;)
