Hi all,

Sorry if i have posted this in the wrong area but its the only place i thought it would get replys,

Can someone give me some advice on what crabs to buy please? my tank is 15 Gallon (UK) and has:

1x Silver Shark
2x Black Molly (Both Male)
3x Bristle Nose / Ancistrus Pleco (Sex Unknown)
3x Guppy (2 Female 1 Male)
6x Neon Tetra (Sex Unknown)

Which crabs will be compatable with these fish please? and do crabs need to be able to get to the surface for air?

Thanx for any advice
Chris

Most crabs do prefer to be able to climb out of water, but can be fully aquatic also.

Rainbow crabs do quite well as aquatics, fidders do less well.

However I wouldn't recommend having a crab with a bottom dwelling fish like your ancistrus.

No doubt someone will now pipe up with "I've had a crab with my cories/plecs/hamster for decades and I've never had any trouble", but I don't think it's worth the risk.

Having crabs in with fish is always a risk. Saying that though, Ive had small red crabs in a tank with fish and there have been no fatalities (yet).

Its up to you whether you want to risk it.
