Advice Please :)

Is the pond far away? I dont think any harm will come to them. :)

I wouldn't necessarily say Goldfish belong in a pond. I think you can appreciate them better in a tank.

@xerotolerance it's a family members' who lives a couple of streets away, it's only a 5 minute walk away. I've had orfe, koi, shubunkins in my tank that have all ended up in the pond

A tank the size of a small pond, yes!

60 litres is a tiny, tiny tank for goldfish and keeping them in such tanks can lead to stunting and internal organ damage.

They're a kind of carp - they do belong in a pond.

I see why you would miss them sometimes because you could just look at them in the convenience of your home but now you need to walk. ;)

Yes you certainly don't get the benefit of being able to see them so close up!

Yeah that would stink. At least the fish will be "happier". :D

Right, my API test kit arrived & I've just performed the relevant tests, here are my results;

pH - between 7.2 & 7.6
Ammonia - between 0 & 0.25 ppm (I estimated 0.10 ppm, perhaps even less)
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 20 to 25 ppm

These readings are going off the little chart you get with the kit.

This is the first time I have done one of these tests so perhaps someone could advise me what my results mean?

My fish seem fairly happy despite the recent deaths of my Guppies. The only problem I seem to have at the moment is that one (& only that one) of my Goldfish is "flicking" of deco & such.

Thanks in advance.

Luke

Looks good, other than the Ammonia, which is also probably good.

Its a known fac that the API Ammonia test is a pig to read.

I bet if you took it outside and read it in daylight rather than inside, it will be 0ppm. With 0 Nitrite and a respectable level of Nitrate, i dont see how there would be much.

I've fallen to this, and did 2 50% water changed two nights in a row on a 340ltr becuase i thought i had ammonia. Turned out to be the light i was looking at the test under, and was infact 0ppm.

Just read the rest of the thread, pretty good going so far, keep it up :)
