:D i bought a tank just tank with light fittings (4) two units
1 external filter (304 fluval) 1 fluval no3 internal
1 300watt heater
gavel

how ever the tank comes without hood or stand as both were rotten and had to be thrown out

my question is what is best to go out and buy a metal stand or build a cabinet

also the hood will i be able to get a hood from lfs or will i have to make my own if so what type of wood is best for the job as the old wood oviously wasn't (this was home made as far as i could tell)

i have been wondering the same thing. i found a local tank shop that sells tanks amazingly cheap but stands and hoods are still abit up there. I have been looking for a cheaper alternative. thinking of building something myself. hope someone has some good ideas

i hope so too so come on plp give us your advice :dunno:

Look in your local business directory and see if you have a plastic moulders nearby. Measure your tank and add a bit on for a rim. See if you can get a piece of perspex moulded to fit.

That should be pretty cheap.

I got a friend to do mine as he worked at a moulders.
