Hi all,

I've had several successful years with fishkeeping (with the help of this great forum and it's members) and am ready to try salt water. (Very colorful).

Several questions:

-What size tank would be good for a decent amount of fish. (I'm not sure I can fit a 55 gallon tank in my place).
-What equipment would I need, (not too expensive hopefully)
-What fish would be good to start with?
-Where can I find detailed info on how to proceed?

I'd love to see some photos of your salt water aquariums.

Thanks,
Andrew

When your talking about tank size bigger is better. This is even more true when talking about SW. It's easier to maintain. You would think that a smaller tank would be a lot cheaper than a large one but this is not true. It is cheaper but you still need a lot of the same equipment so the cost difference isn't big enough to justify buying a small tank IMHO.

Reef tanks require more equipment than a basic SW tank.

I've never kept salt water so I can't help much more than that except to tell you that you'll probably have better luck posting this in the SW section of the forum =). Best of luck

you might want to post this in marine chit chat. You might get more replies there.

also I just noticed that you live in RI. Me too! Howdy neighboor!

I suggest you look around these local forums and their respective pinned topics. MANY offer the answers to all your questions. :good:
