Hi All.
need some advice about my rummys...i have 7 in my community tank..havnt had any probs with them and it is an established tank.had them for 6 months..they are in a 3 foot with 3 clown loaches 2 catfish..3 algae eaters..a rainbow shark.4 cardinals..2 guppies 2 bettas[one now deceased] and a large zebra loach.they all get on well usually and theyv always had a lot of colour.
ammonia ,nitrates and nitrate all fine and test once a week and do reg changes.
firstly one of my bettas died a couple of weeks away..im not sure if was columnaris or something similar but had white all over its head and at the end looked like its face was disintegrating..i quarantined him as soon as i realised and dosed him but couldnt save him..i treated the tank as advised..no one else seemed to have it..then did plenty of reg water changes.
the things that have changed in the tank are these and wondering if these are the cause of the stress[they have been completely white for a week and either shiver in a corner or dart around like mad things and dont school]
we got a new decoration in the tank.a big ship which the zebra loach has decided is his and no one elses and chases the other fish out.the rummys dont go in there..could that be the cause.the zebra wasnt territorial before this and was peacefull.i tried taking the ship out for a night but they were still pale the next day..[the zebra is a bit calmer and lets the loaches in.
i added the very small algae eaters at the same time.could they be freaked by them.they dont bother anyone and just are stuck on the glass.
or is columnaris still in there..i used interpet anti fungus..had one episode 2 months ago but cleared it useing a green colured med for columnaris..cant remember the name..
i had changed the light to a blue marine[but this was duller than there usual light..again switched back to the old one in case it was freaking them out..no change.
what can i do..i dont want to dose them again unless i have to..can columnaris linger even if meds are given..sorry for the long post
i just want my red noses back..any help or advice anyone can give..many thanks.
