Advice On Protein Skimmer

I have a 90 gallon tank, saltwater fish with Live Rock in it. I have 2 Ehiem 2217, and a 3x 9w turbo twist UV light, but I want to add a protein skimmer. My problem is that my tank is only an inch and a half from the wall, because I needed to rest the tank's weight on the main beam which runs across the room. It is enough room to run the tubes down the back of the tank. Now that I am looking into skimmers online, I am only seeing products that hang on the back of the tank. I have a canopy on the top of the tank which also makes it difficult to hang it off the side as well.

Any advice is welcomed.

Hi,

I had a simular problem when a change tanks and found an internal skimmer like the deltec works just as well as an external, OK you loose a little space, but clever placing of LR and halimeda(http/www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/main_pages/faq_algae.htm) helps hide the unit. Only issue I could forseen is the clearance between the water and hood.

Thank you Scuba, I read the site you suggested. I will put more thought into internal skimmers, also thanks for pointing out the hieght of the skimmer when it is inside the tank, which is something I would not have thought of I will make sure to check the product's dimenions for each internal skimmer I consider.
