Use your 100w for your new 29 gallon. It'll be fine. A general rule is one watt per liter or there abouts.

Some plants really don't need such intense care. Go out and get an Anubias on driftwood from your LFS. I haven't killed one yet lol. Hardier than most fish IMO .

Most fish can adapt to most ph conditions plecos and livebearers ( platies , guppies, swordtails etc ) especially.

I find the aquaone brand to be reliable.

Ask as many questions as you like. We'll try to help you. Always. :)

Hey guys, what is the amount of salt, quick start and stress coat for a 163 liters/45 gal tank for the first time, daily and water change?

You don't need any salt, and the dechlorinator you use will have the quantities written on it (1cap per 40 litres, for example) on it. If you dose directly into the bucket then dose for the amount of water in the bucket (usually 10litres) but if you turn off the filter, put the water back in and then dose, dose for the entire tank (163l).

Fish Herder, those are some good looking tanks you have got. Love it.

May I know how much does it cost to run a 300w tank heater for a month? Does anyone know? According to the calculations I found on google, it cost roughly AUD$150 per month? That is a lot.

I have no idea, but my dad always is talking about how much power my room is taking, i have 5 filters going, 4 lights, 3 heaters, 2 airators, my tv, my xbox, my fan and whatever i plug into the walls haha.

I'd think it varies depending on the temperature in your house. Your heater won't be on all the time unless it's very cold.

That estimate doesn't sound right to me. I have 6 tanks, though one of them the heaters havn't turned on yet as it's empty, and the bill has not jumped up that much.

I do not want to have to take down the tanks and sell off my fishes so I try to save on my usual electrical usage.

I just moved my study table next to the window so I get natural light without having to turn on my lights. Basically I only have 1 300w heater and 1 aqua one 850 filter. I can wear more clothes so I don't have to use a heater for myself unless its really, really cold. I can wear a t-shirt and short pants in winter even when I am outside without any issues. I guess I have better cold tolerance.

Let's see what does the bill say this month.

Keep in mind you are likely going to get a lot of algae by doing that.

I thought algae feed on light?

EDITED:

Disregard the comment above haha.

I will turn on my lights for the aquarium at night so I guess it is alright

OH. Oopsie! I think I misunderstood. I was thinking you were moving your tank next to the window, not your study table.
